The Town Hall is one of the only remaining Colonial Buildings in the city of Colombo. Being a Prominent Landmark The Colombo Townhall can be found in front of the Viharamadevi Park. It is used as the Headquarters of the Colombo Municipal Council and the Mayor's office in Colombo.
The foundation stone for the Colombo town hall was laid on the 24th of May 1924. It was formally opened by Governor Sir Herbert Stanley KCMG four years later in the 9th of August 1928. Constructed according to British Architecture, The Colombo Townhall originally included the Viharamadevi Park too. It is an excellent location For photo shoot and is very commonplace in Colombo used for wedding shoots.
