The Pinnawala Open zoo is a zoological garden found in the Pinnawala, Rambukkana region of Sri Lanka. It was opened on the 17th of April 2015 to be an alternative to the Dehiwala Zoo. The Dehiwala zoo while being recognized as a top tourist attraction within Sri Lanka posed a series of constraints that has limited its expansion and from devoloping further, The Pinnawala zoo was the solution found of this issue.
This zoo was Sri Lanka’s first open air zoo and the second zoo of Sri Lanka. The Zoo is divied into two sections: the sri lankan zone and the world zone. You can fid many endemic animals here including Sri Lankan Leopards , Purple faced Monkeys, Wild Boars and Elephants. The Leopard watching area is the largest range of the zoo.
